Xiang Yu (232-202 BCE) was a military leader who led the Chu forces in a momentous clash against the Han forces. Among his closest companions was Yu Ji, his treasured concubine. In a decisive battle, Xiang Yu’s troops became trapped, surrounded on all fronts by the unyielding Han force. Confronted with the possibility of being separated from Xiang Yu or facing capture and mistreatment by the enemy, Yu Ji chose to take her own life. After this heartbreaking loss, Xiang Yu found himself immersed in a sea of memories, reminiscing about their shared moments.
